Wednesday night review

Breakthrough to Freedom conference

Some highlights:

75% of deliverance is lies we believe.

20%  is inner healing.

5% is casting out demons.

Jesus warns us that Satan is the originator of lies and his strategy to destroy us is to get us first to believe a lie.

“When he (Satan) lies, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

If there is one thing we could say is good about the devil – it is that he is a good liar. So good that he makes his lies sound like the truth. One of his greatest attacks against us is to get us to believe lies about God.

-        His first lie in Eden. “Hath God really said? No, you will not die. God knows if you eat this you will become like Him, that it why He told you this lie, to keep you from becoming like Him.”

-        If Satan can get you to think wrong about God so that you will doubt or question Him – he will.

How can the enemy get you to believe a lie?

-        By suggesting thoughts or feelings.

This is why having the knowledge of the truth (Word of God) is so important to be able to capture enemy thoughts or feelings.

“My people perish for lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6

the verse that follows reveals this lack is not just ignorance but rejection of truth.

“Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you . . .  Because you have forgotten the law of God I will forget your children.” V 6bc

If you don’t have a healthy knowledge of God and His Word then you can be easily deceived by the enemy and not even realize it. A good liar makes you believe a lie is truth.

Believers are told to get rid of two things that belong to the devil:

1.   Tear down strongholds

2.   Cast out demons

I know there are many Christians who have a satanic stronghold in their life. It’s harming them, wrecking their spiritual life, contaminating the life of their family and church. The devil has found an unclean place within and built a foul nest, a beachhead.

A foothold given to Satan becomes a stronghold over time.

Pic of stronghold.

Ephesians 4 says, “Neither, give place to the devil…  and grieve not the Holy Spirit of God.”

When we give devil a place in our lives (mind, will, emotions) he will take it and build a stronghold to torment us from this place. From this place the HS is grieved and hindered from having His way in us.

What does it mean to give place to the devil? Let’s say you own 50 acres of land and you sell one acre in the middle to someone. Now  they have the right to go in and out of your property to get to their property. Suppose they fill their property with trash or play loud music at times that bothers you. You try to make them leave but they have a legal right to stay there and torment you. You can’t dislodge him unless you do it legally because you have given him a place.

3 things you must do to break a stronghold:

1.   Repent – not just being sorry for your sin but be done with it. Confess it and forsake it and want nothing else to do with it. You gave the devil a place in your life. You are not going to get it back until you repent. Repentance is breaking away from that sin.

2.   Resist.

“When a demon goes out of a person it goes through dry places seeking rest. Finding none it says, I will return to my house from which I came.” Luke 11:24

Whether a stronghold habit is torn down or demon is cast out. The enemy will always come back and try to get a foothold or place in your soul to start to live here again.

-        Most habits are not easily broken the first time. Not uncommon to relapse whether cigarettes, drugs, etc.

What’s your trigger?

Depression, disappointment, financial set back, pressure, hurt, boredom, or ?

Whatever the enemy has used before you can be sure he will try and use again!

3.   Renewal

The key is to fill that empty place with truth so as to recognize the lie the enemy will come back at you with

1.   We are commanded by God to renew our minds to think like Him – Romans 12:2

2.   We are commanded to be filled with the Spirit – Eph. 5:18

To be filled with the Spirit means there is not one room in your temple where God is shut out. Not one room He does not have a key to. In your sex life, money, politics, eating and drinking. Jesus I give you all the keys to every part of my temple.

You have a choice; you can put the devil out and be filled with God or let the devil have a place in your temple and grieve the Spirit of God.

Concl: If you know you have a stronghold then take these 3 steps.

Repent – resist – renew

Now I would like to hear some testimonies from people who attended the conference this weekend.

You’re never going to cease grieving the Holy Spirit, you’re never going to expunge Satan from your life, until you choose against Satan and yield to God’s Holy Spirit. Take those three steps, repentance, resistance and renewal.
