Our Story

OUR MISSION

PRESENTING JESUS
The Revelation of Grace and Truth
that’s sets people FREE

Grace Tabernacle began in April, 2003 in the upper room of the Leesburg Opera house.  With no advertisement other than word of mouth we began with an overflow crowd of over 300 hungry to experience God.  The people of Grace Tabernacle are the church.
Their love and passion for the Lord and people is obvious and contagious to all who visit.
A frequent comment from visitors is "this place is alive with the presence of God!"

Interim Pastors
Rick and Rebekah Porterfield

Rick and Rebekah Porterfield have nearly 30 years of ministry experience. They founded and led a church in South Carolina for nearly 12 years, which laid a solid foundation for their future roles in ministry. Rick is a graduate of Charis Bible College (CBC) and is also ordained by CBC.
For seven years, they have served as Regional Advocates for Andrew Wommack’s ministerial association, the Association of Related Ministries International (ARMI), where they provide support and encouragement to other ministers.
They teach on a variety of topics, including healing, identity, understanding God’s nature, the balance of grace and faith, peace, provision, and more, and have seen many lives changed and healed.
Since 1994, a significant part of their ministry has been focused on marriage and family. Through their "Marriage By The Book" ministry, they have traveled the U.S. and to countries like France, the Czech Republic, Peru, and Uganda, teaching at ministers conferences, as well as marriage, singles, women’s, and men’s conferences.  They equip individuals, families, and ministers with scriptural principles to guide them through the challenges of life. Their book, "Marriage By The Book," published in 2008, is a valuable resource for those seeking to strengthen their marital bonds.

What We Believe

IN ESSENTIAL BELIEFS, UNITY.  EPH. 4:4-6
IN NON-ESSENTIAL BELIEFS, LIBERTY.  ROM. 14:4-22
IN ALL BELIEFS, CHARITY. I COR. 13:2

Grace Tabernacle is a non-denominational ministry.  We relate and fellowship with all the body of Christ but we do not take on the name of any other denomination.

Practical ministry values:

  • We believe in reaching beyond racial and ethnic barriers with the gospel of Jesus.

  • We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is for all believers. This includes the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and all the gifts of the Spirit are in operation for today.

  • We believe pastoral care, discipleship, and relationships best happens in small groups.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe in the verbal inspiration and authority of the Bible.

  • We believe Jesus is the eternal Son of God, and God the Son at the same time. God Himself took the form of a man at the virgin birth. Atonement for sin was made by the sacrificial and substitutional death of Jesus Christ for us.

  • We believe salvation is the gift of God by grace alone and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in that Jesus died, was buried, bodily resurrected and ascended into heaven.

  • We believe the Holy Spirit permanently indwells the believer and seals him upon salvation.

  • We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as God’s means to empower us to live supernatural lives.

  • We believe all the spiritual giftings are vital ingredients to church life and are operative today.

  • We believe the ordinances of the church are Water Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper, both of which are administered to those who are born again.

  • We believe in the eternal salvation and heaven for the believers and in the eternal damnation and hell for the nonbelievers.

  • We believe in the visible, soon, and glorious return of Jesus Christ, the “Blessed Hope” of the Church.

  • We keep the goodness of God as the cornerstone of our theology.
